DL4
Why Celestion DL4's ?
These deservedly won speaker of the year in the 1980's and were renowned as the 'poor man's' SL6. I had some for many years as I couldn't afford SL6's when I was selling them! They have a clean and precise sound and can benefit from being paired with the best of front ends and amplifiers. I left the retail trade not having completed my own personal system and had a Michell Gyrodec/Mission 774/Osawa OS80L running the DL4's through a Musical Fidelity MVT pre-amp and a Musical Fidelity Studio T power amp. Top end stuff, but the DL4's survived in that system for 20 years! All I did was to put them on stands as expensive as they were and rewire them inside. They were something around £100 when sold originally and the ones I sell are as close to new as you can get, even to having the original boxes.
Why not give them a try if you're waiting to afford SL6's. They might last you 20 years too!
